Health Office

SPPS Health and Wellness provides health services to students to enhance educational achievement by removing health-related barriers to learning to the best of our ability. Our staff consists of Licensed School Nurses and Health Assistants.

Health & Wellness Information for Students and Families

In SPPS, the primary goal of our Health & Wellness department is to assist students to be self-sufficient in managing their health care within age appropriate and developmental expectations, thereby preparing all students for life.

Our Health & Wellness staff work closely with families, teachers, and school teams to:

  • Promote student health and wellness
  • Assist with identifying chronic health conditions and refer to appropriate resources
  • Manage school health related care for students (medications, health procedures, chronic condition management, etc.)
  • Provide first aid and emergency care for illnesses and injuries
  • Teach students skills to manage their health, as developmentally appropriate
  • Work with local and state health officials around community health issues

If your child has a health condition that affects learning, requires medication at school, or may lead to a medical emergency, please contact your school's Licensed School Nurse as soon as possible.

While health staff support confidentiality around your child’s health condition(s), health information may be shared with SPPS teachers and/or other school staff on a need-to-know basis to support student learning, health and safety. This is in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy (FERPA) Act.
